7.3 diesel bought for Ol Big Red. Unless I come up with another truck soon! Lol
Its dark I know, ill get better pics in the morning. If you can see that f250 in tha back yonder, that thing was bad ****! 460 etc
Its will work in ol red, you just need to look at some stronger/higher capacity front coil lift springs and good shocks. And get the lift/steering geometry dialed in tight.
Trac bar drop bracket/adjustable trac bar...for that amount of lift, double shock the front suspension (not just the steering stabilizers), complete front end bushing over haul?
Get the caster/camber set up right, new ball joints, tie rods, wheel bearings, HD brakes... maybe a hydra boost up grade?
All the weight will be rough on the front end components.....and then the torque down the drive line to that 9", but that can be built to handle it too. Its only $$$.
An early diesel should have a vacuum pump on it to run the brake booster. If it doesn't, then yes, you'll need to convert to manual brakes, (not a good idea) or a hydra-boost system. Do you remember what the old cab had hanging on the firewall or did you get all that when you removed it?
Rich is right as far as the front end goes. It would be better to go through everything and replace what needs replacing. It already HAS an adjustable track arm, so no biggie there. The diesel isn't MUCH heavier than a 460 with a cast iron manifold. Worst case is you put the diesel in it and take out the factory lift blocks in the rear. It should sit level then. The lift springs tend to be much stiffer than the stock ones anyway.
