How fast does a 1988 ranger extended cab 2 wheel drive 5 speed go
My uncle bought me an 1988 ranger as a write off for $600 and it needed a ne front clip and now we are in the middle of painting it and i would really like to know how fast it goes Any information at all would be greatly appreciated
I had a 1988 4 cyl and I maxed at about 75-80 mph downhill with hurricane winds behind me. The V6 is probably about 90 max. I seriously doubt it if its more because of the added weight from the ext. cab. It's like driving a brick through the air. You might gain 1-2 mph by dropping the gate in the back (wind restrictive). This truck is a workhorse though. Really good for hauling. Just be careful to allow extra time for braking and cornering (great on straight roads, clumsy on cornering and braking with a load).
OH!!!!! If you are looking into speed, you can drop a V8 in it. A 302 or 351w (which can be stroked to over 400 cubic inches) would be very doable. Advanced Adapters is where you'd have to start. They have the books and conversion kits for you. That is if you a REALLY looking for speed.
