Hey guys just got through doing the return line kit with new flow plugs and injectors cleaned while I was at it the valve cover gaskets needed to be changed. There also is a slight leak between the injection pump gear housing and the block. It's below the filler neck on this 83 6.9. I was wondering which gasket I need to order and how difficult it is to change out.
the valve cover gaskets should be easy enough.
for the gear housing, i don't remember there being a gasket for it, it might have just been RTV.
in any case, to reseal the gear housing requires you to take extreme care to get the gear in the right rotational position when you put it back together. it is possible with a light looking through the hole on the gear housing, but quite a PITA. the easy way to get the gear aligned properly is to have the whole front cover removed so you can see it clearly, but thats a lot of work by itself. if it was mine, i would ask myself if the amount its leaking is worth the effort.
also make sure its oil not fuel before you try to reseal anything. a leaking return line can fool you, and i would hate to have you do a bunch of work without being sure of where the problem is
