I have a 96 F350 CC E4OD. Replaced speed sensor in rear end now Speedo fluctuates 2-5 mph. I have installed two sensors, the first one did not seal, speedo did same thing. Thanks for any help.
I've got same issue bud....before I replaced it speedo didn't bounce at all now speedo bounces and tranny shifts like crap.......where did you buy the sensors from? Mine was from the ford dealership
I would say try a motor craft sensor but as of now I can't be sure that they are the best either......I'm taking my truck in to a guy that all he does is build HD trannys for Cummins and powerstroke sled pullers to have him check mine all out wiring and all he said its free because he knows one day I'll be back down there to replace my stock tranny with a built unit
Check the air gap between the sensor and tone ring. Max spec is 0.045". Mine was at max spec and I sanded down the mounting face of the sensor to bring the gap to 0.020" and the needle is very solid now.

Good but I have questions: How do you meassure that air gap? Do you have to pull the rear diff cover?
