So I am guessing June lake was discovered in June?
Jim
No one really "discovers" a lake. But you got my curiousity up. No one seems to know where the name of June came from. But theory is that June was the month when snow level typically allowed one to travel into the area.
Wiki has a nice article on the loop area. But doesn't mention the origin of the name.

Well, someone had to name it June Lake. It is interesting that there is no info on it, sort of like that mega phone thing out in the middle of the desert that nobody knows about.
The trip was a success. Porter was the subject of most of my photos, just because I wanted to have a subject I suppose. Dad and I had a grand time fishing on the lake and in dead man creek. I caught 3 in the stream, goose egg on the lake. Dad had one in the stream (so he says... no witnesses)
