Hello. I own a 1999 f250 Super duty Diesel 4 door 4X4 in nice condition.
Recently the AC/Heat vents will no longer switch positions (vent to defrost etc.). It is currently stuck in defrost position. Occasionally at first start up, it will return to the set dash vent position but then by itself resets to defrost despite dash control position.
Does any one know what this issue is? I would assume some sort of faulty vacuum valving or switch is somewhere...Anybody know where it is located?
I would really like to correct this without a 100$/hr. mechanic and its hot outside. My manual doesn't address this issue at all.
It's most likely a vacuum leak. You could do a search in here for vacuum defrost (getting the 2 most pertinent words) and find some valuable information on this topic.
