My 95 F-150 (4x4, 5.0, 5 speed) recently developed a bad vibration that occurs right at 70 mph. It feels like I'm driving on the rumble-strips, not the highway. I checked allignment, tire balance, and even replaced the tires. It smooths out above 70, but sucks from about 68 to about 72. It happens in fourth or fifth gear, and seems to be speed related, not engine RPM related. Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's driving me nuts!!
Mine was the rear-most U-joint on a 2WD.
It had me confused, but then I checked it closely.
I could actually wiggle the driveshaft against the direction of the yoke(? right name?) coming out of the rear end (holding both - one in each hand) and I found some play in one of the lobes. You may not be able to do that yet, but it's probably about time to change 'em all anyway.
