Help quick!!!!!!!!! My interior lights on my 97 F 150 will not go out, I have slammed all the doors hundreds of times. Key is not in the switch and interior light switch is not on. Sometimes it acts like it is on a timer and other times it just will not go out, until I slam the doors countless times.
Help quick..........thanks
Update: I think I have narrowed it down to the drivers door, but where in the world is the switch that the door pushes when the door is closed?? It also shows the door ajar light when the interior lights are on.

it sounds like there is a problem with the switch in the door. As for the switch in the door itself, it is located in the doorjamb. I've tried to locate it myself on several occasions but have not been successful. I have not physically seen it, but it sounds like that is where your problem lies. Hope that helps
The switches are in the door latches, not in the door jambs.
Usually spraying LOTS of WD40 into the latches will clean the switches and they will work again. Just open the doors and start spraying into the latches then open and close the doors a few times.
Only use WD40 and not a grease type spray. WD40 cleans well where as other types of spray lube dont.
my bad, i guess i was totally wrong there with the location thing. Maybe i'll make sure i know what i'm talking about before i reply next time. sorry guys
Another thing to note here is that many folks still use white lithium grease on these latches. That just makes the micro switches worse. If that happens spray some lectra motive or brake kleen. Let it dry and then re spray the WD 40.

Are you saying to use the WD-40 as a grease? I hope not....because it isnt.
WD 40 is not a grease but it is a lubricant. If you try and use a true grease such as the white lithium it will gum up the micro switches and they will not work. If you spray liberally with WD 40 about 2 times a year you should not have any more difficulty.
ive had my fuses pulled out for years because of that problem i m gonna try a little dw40!!! My passenger side always stays ajar for days when i open it!!
