Personally I think it is over-kill and a waste of $money$
you can think that, but you'd be wrong!
no,seriously though,don't think that! it's a major,major nice upgrade in stopping performance.
here's my write up too: Hydroboost Brakes
a couple things the idi diesel era thought us;
1.all diesel trucks should be turbocharged.
2.all diesel trucks should be equipped with hydroboost brakes.
did you know swapping out vac brakes for hydroboost, adds more braking performance than a turbo adds engine performance to the old idi diesels? and n/a to turbocharged doesn't exactly go unnoticed lol.

If it's worth doing, it's worth over-doing. Go big or go home
I'd love to do the upgrade, but my mechanical skills can be summed up as "I broke my oil dipstick while checking my oil." Pretty sure I'm banned from using tools.

If you have pockets full of money go right ahead and spend it however you want. Personally I have had no issues with vacuum assisted brakes on any of the trucks I have personally owned since 1979.
I stated my opinion, take it for what it cost you....nothing.
It really depends on your needs, if you need the extra stopping performance sure, do the upgrade, to me safety is priceless (I would rather know my truck WILL come to a stop safely and quickly) so if I can do this mod I would do it in a heart beat, just decide what you need and are wanting and go with it
I love hydroboost brakes. Much better feedback/feel than vacuum boost systems, in my opinion.
I'm even considering replacing my stock pump with one that can provide more flow, then I'll easily be able to run hydroboost and a winch in addition to factory steering.

So what pump? Have you installed yet? I need one too, wondering what you had in mind on the pump. BTW, thread is not too old. LOL!
Not yet, but I'm considering going to a Saginaw, AGR, or even a C3 pump when I (eventually) buy a hydraulic winch. I have an air compressor bolted on my engine with a homemade bracket, directly over the stock p/s pump, so I don't know if I'll have room to do the Saginaw swap like most people do using mounting brackets from a van. I *think* the C3 pumps (like on 4.6/5.4 engines, remote reservoir, cast iron body, vane-type) are available with higher volume than the C2 pumps (what our trucks use, integral plastic reservoir, aluminum body, slipper-type, whines like a b****) but I'll have to do more Googling first.
I ain't too worried... plenty of scrap metal here at work, all sorts of brackets, pulleys, and doohickeys at the junkyard, and I didn't buy a welder for nothing. If I have to come up with all new brackets, so be it.
Actually... I could probably make a bracket to mount any pump I want where the air pump was on older trucks, and just run down to Hydraulic Supply and have whatever lines I need made up.
88-97 f-superdutys had it and it supposed to be direct swap if u get all the pressure and return lines off donor getting ready to do swap myself shortly
