What do you guys use to break loose a pinion nut if you don't have an impact wrench (at least one that will work)? How can you hold the companion flange to get a socket and breaker bar on that nut? The book calls for a flange holder but I haven't been able to locate anything like that.

Just find a long flat chunk of metal, and drill a 3/8" hole in one end near the corner. Then put one bolt thru it into the companion flange, and another 2 holes away. That's a "flange holder"!
