I am trouble shooting my sons '92 F150. He was driving it when it just quit running. No Sputter, or other symptoms. It just quit. Cranks great. Tested the spark on each plug-wire with a tester that plugs into the wire and lights up, all are good. I have run a pressure test on the fuel rail, it reads 50 as per spec. I have had the ICM tested, it's good. I have replaced the ECM to no avail. I tested the fuel cut off manually by tripping and resetting it. While tripped it didnt allow the fuel pump to run. after resetting is when I tested the fuel pressure.
Any help pointing me in the right direction for the next test would be appreciated.
So you got spark (but didn't check timing?)... alright. You have fuel at the rail, now you need to see if it's making it into the combustion chambers. With everything connected, crank it for a few seconds. Then pull a spark plug or two and see if they're wet with fuel.
You could also just use a test light and check at each fuel injector to see if the EEC is firing them.
Also, not likely since it happened instantly, but did you check for unrestricted intake and exhaust?
I appreciate the ideas. I was finally able to locate the problem. I pulled the disturber cap to see what kind of codituon it was in. The rotor was broken. So I replace d it, the cap, the wires, and the plugs. Fire right up and runs great once again.
