My mechanic is telling me I need new front shocks on my 06 F-250 and is recommending the NAPA store brand. He says they are $129 each and total including installation will be $390.
I've seen others on here recommend bilstein and I'm looking at these shocks which are $72.81 each on Amazon.. http://cart.bilsteinus.com/product/24-186674/186762/4WD
Anybody have any recommendations?
Also, how hard is it to replace these myself? Money is tight and if I can do it easily, I will.
I have bilstein 5100s on the front of my X and the F250. They are $77 or so from www.eshocks.com
They only take 15 min or so each to put on if you cut the wheel all the way one way and jack the frame up until the wheel almost comes off the ground you don't have to pull the wheel.
top gun customz sells the Bilsteins it's a revalved shock that icon sells for a lot of money. google icon lift.
They're the best riding shocks on the market. Don;t take the plastic band off until you have the bottom bolt in, then insert the metal keeper, bottom bushing line it up and cut the band it will expand right into the hole.
I will have my Icon rears for sale soon as i'm upgrading to a 6" lift.
Thanks guys! Mechanic said mine are causing uneven wear on my front tires... Something sure is uneven on my front right! Outside inch or so is worn all the way down to bald with full tread on the rest of the tire. Tires are only eight months old... Treadwright wardens...

Worn shocks usually cause cupping along with a tire being out of balance. Sounds like you have an alignment or ball joint problem. Could also be a belt shift in the tire if only on one side. That's a guess without actually seeing and driving it.

That sound more like a toe out problem than a shock problem
