Oh and another thing I do is pin a hitch into the rails for alignment. That way you're sure that it will fit in the rails when you're done drilling / tightening everything down.
Already figured on doing both of those. Was going to drill the rear bracket first and put bolts into the holes, then put hitch in along with front bracket.
Going to be ready to replace the brake pads also. LOL pedal seems a bit soft, and i seriously hate the brake dust on the wheels. I would guess at 78K they are 1)still original and 2) ready to not be original any more.
I always have problems with the rotors rusting over, you guys had good luck with any particular brand? Or do I need to quite driving like an old man....
I put the set of slotted and drilled rotors on the supercrew last year. They were awesome. Did a quick eBay search and they are available for the F250 also, and only $279 (?) for all 4 rotors and ceramic pads.
You won't be able to keep the rust off the surface if it sites for a few days, and I have always painted the rest of the rotor to minimize the rust. a good high temp paint works well.
The best way to minimize the brake dust is a set of ceramic pads.
Your always gonna get some " flash over" rust sitting for day or two, my problem is the embedded, scaly rust you can chip off the friction surface area with a hammer I have a heated indoor wash area at my disposal, brake dust not a problem. I was thinking about trying EBC stuff next go around.
