Old horse upgrade
I'm Pops Mcgoo and just joined up.
My 1994 F150 XLT super cab 4X4 5.0 liter has been my partner since new. After pricing new ones, I decided to keep my old reliable friend around for the duration of my life span (I'm 71).
My old work horse has 101,000 miles on it and even though the engine & driveline has been kept in excellent shape the truck is in need of a makeover.
So, I thought I would join-up with some Ford guys to help with this up coming makeover.
Basically I'm looking to upgrade its braking system, with new shocks, wheels, tires and any other suspension upgrades I might need. I think the old 15" wheels need an upgrade to 17" or 18".....would like to achieve this without exchanging the present drums and rotors which have never been turned.
Next, I might intertain thoughts about upgrading its bland dove grey interior into a more contemporary design.
The black exterior still shines like new and should need only a hood repaint because of a loose "bug shield" that abraded to paint. The tailgate applique is an idiot design but I think I'll keep it and paint it black to match the trucks color----leaving the top & bottom trim exposed.
So, there's a lot of work that needs to be done and I'm looking forward to interacting with the forum members with this project and maybe I can be helpful to someone with their F150 thoughts.
