Off topic here but just a question for guys that have worked for Ford or just know how they operate.
I have to replace the EGR valve on the 08 6.4 liter, which if I didnt need a special tool I would do it myself. Im in a town with no Ford shops, but have one east, west, and north of me. All of which are country towns, and the same distance from me.
My question is how do they charge for labor? Is it a set time for certain parts or what?
Reason I ask, all of them to replace then pressure test, and a 12/12 warranty, come up way different. Ones 650$ and stated its 2-3 hour job. Next is 407$ and is a 3-4 hour job. Finally last is 302 $ and can be done in an hour. Not much difference in population of any of these cities, all are county towns, so how is there so much variance in the price and labor?
I think you need to move to the 6.4L forum but if they are all ford dealers I'd go with the cheapest one. I know that's not what you wanted to hear but that's my opinion. Sometimes in small towns they do things different and charge you by what they think is a fair price. Where I live its by the book, what ever the book rate is, hours, times $96.oo each hour. Its your choice.
Not much traffic on the 6.4 side hence why I put it here. I can always get answers about my 7.3 easy from you guys, but not so simple there. Hence I ask the guys im around most. Thanks for the input though
