1986 Dashboard width?

Could someone tell me how wide the Dashboard is in there truck? Also the windshield?
Reason I ask, I have a 1987 F800. It has the same looking dash as the 1986 and under F150,F250 and F350's. Need to replace mine and would like to make sure there the same width before ordering one. Also windshield has a crack on the pass side.
Thanks in advance.

Probably nobody's bothered to measure it... From what I understand they are the same as the 80-86 dash.

Thanks I'm just trying to make sure before I order a new Dash pad and then it would not fit. Sure hope there all the same, that way a windshield will be easy to get .
I do know just looking at the cab it looks to have more room. Wish I could remember or find where it was talking about these F800 cabs being 8" Wider then the normal F-through F350's.

I can measure it tomorrow if that works for you. I have one out and it would be easy to do.

81-F-150-Explorer has posted before, stating that many of the interior components on the light-duty trucks (F100-350) are also used on the Medium Duty trucks (f450 thru, um I forget... 700?) but I forget the details and years.... I think it's through the early or mid-90s. It's in the archives someplace....

Why don't you take a picture of your dash and post it here? We will be able to tell you if its the same.

Will post a pic today. It looks the same as the 1986 and down. Even has the same part around the radio and heating air.

Here is a post from Ralph (81-F-150-Explorer, a well-respected member here) explaining the interchangeability, it was one of these posts that prompted me to look at the larger trucks for myself.

Ford still carried these in Black last time I checked but they were pricey. $500. It is however long after their usual 5 year limit on interior parts. It's been 7 years since a Ford Truck used one etc, but the part has been in production 20 years in various colors, so you never know...

If you do get one and want to color it to match, (if you cant find a matching color) most auto paint stores can match the color of your interior.

You can also check the sponsors of FTE. I know some aftermarket companies have dash caps that look factory, and really good. They stick on to your old dash pad.

Never tried them myself however.

Thanks that is great info. Got to thinking a few minutes ago, only bad spot on mine is where the speaker is. May mount the CB over it and use Diamond plate for the mount. That will cover the bad spot up. Thus turn the dash back into a nice piece. As the rest of it is spotless.
