I have been considering a 5.0L HO engine swap. If I were to go to an E303 cam and the recommended Mass Air Conversion Kit from Ford Racing will I run into any problems as the air meter is calibrated for (1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8) firing order and the HO engine will be (1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8) firing order?
The air meter (MAF) doesn't care about your firing order, but your computer does. If your engine and your computer don't have matching firing orders, your trck will still run, but not use the advantages of the sequential injector firing. If you want to use sequential injection, you need to swap the pins at the computer connector for the right firing order. See
http://brembs.net/cars/maf_conversion (and links therein) for which pins are the right ones for which injector. It's not a big deal.
Thanks and I will be very interested in knowing how your MAF Project turns out. I had actually considered something along the same lines, using a ProM meter. I had not thought it through as well as you obviously have. I do have a question however....Would it have been easier to use another F-150 ECM, from 94-95, that I believe comes from the factory with MAF?
