Hey all, I'm usually in the fullsize bronco forum, but have some questions.
I work in shop as auto electrician but I do some mechanic work also.
Was working on a customers 89 bronco II w/ 2.8L v6 and 5spd standard tranny 2WD.
Well, my question is I was ordering some parts for it and leaned over to check if it was a 4WD or not, problem is it is a 2WD all the way except it has a married trtansfer case on the end of the tranny, and were the front yoke should be, it has what looks to be freeze plug or steel cap sealing off the front.
Is this normal? The car is done and gone but it still has me baffled.
If I got your question right, its a Mazda 5 speed, with a dummy transfer case. My guess is that it is the manufactures idea of saving money, by using the same tranny case mold for either 2wd or 4wd. What I do know, is that, although its a dummy transfer on the 2wd, it normally increases the time and cost of any clutch or tranny work, because it is harder to get out/in.
