The Redneck from Sedgwick's build
Hello, I’m a redneck from a little bar and post office towncalled Sedgwick. I went back and forth on whether or not to post my builds. Idecided that your input would be helpful. I’ve been called an out of the boxthinker, but that just because I think outside of the typical box. I’m stillstuck in my own box and tend to miss things. Also while reading keep in mind that I amtalented and good at a lot of things. “Speling” is not one of them and I’m alittle dyslexic, so if something doesn’t make sense point it out and I’ll tryto fix it.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
I am not going for impossibleor impressive. I’m just going for a reliable work horse that I can use andabuse every day.<o></o>
I have three idis that I plan to upgrade.<o></o>
My work truck, is an 88 F250 ex-cab 4x4, called Vince usefor farm work, four wheeled on a daily basis in the summer and has +10,000Lbs behindit 50% of the time<o></o>
My good truck is a 93 F250 Ex-cab 4x4, called Clevenger goto town or date truck, hauls iron in the winter hauls +10,000Lbs 80% of thetime. <o></o>
The tow truck is an 89 F350 dually; I find new uses for itall the time. <o></o>
I plan to post pics and all of the mods I have done so far.<o></o>
I going to start with 88, it gets most of the left overparts from my 93. <o></o>
This round it’s going to get an engine I rebuilt lastwinter, a banks turbo, a cam from Oregon cam, and an intercooler from a 2000psd.<o></o>
I was going to do 0 to 60 times to gauge the performance ofthe mods, but things aren’t going to work out. The tc is going out of it, I swappedin a e4od and it is making noise when the clutch isn’t engaged.<o></o>
I was referred to this site, https://www.racerxusa.com, I am looking attheir eagle tc and maybe a valve body. My trans was rebuilt in early 2000s withsupposedly heavy duty parts. I have a good idea why the tc is going out. <o></o>
Or I have two tc on hand, but I don’t know how good theyare. I was getting tired of pulling the tranny that is why I went away from thec6, I got to the point I could remove, rebuild, and install a c6 in 5 hours.<o></o>
I curious what your guys input is on this.<o></o>

I only built mine once but it seems you haul more days in the year than I do.
The C-6 can be made bullet proof as I did mine. If I ever sell my truck the C-6 stays with me as well the GEar Vendors.
You have to spend the bucks and get a T/C that wont flex and that can stand the load
Unfortunate that it will cost $500+++ for an appropriate one.

The c6 is gone I like overdrive and locking tc.
I did have one c6 that I liked it came from a junk, it had a special tc I sent it off for a core not knowing about the tc.
The thing that killed my c6s is we have a felid that I have to drive in to the felid to check the well, There is about 400 yards of road that the spinkler dump and inch of water on every three days. I don't go in on the day the sprinkler is on the road just the other two days.
That is hard enought on the truck, in the eary part of the year I have to haul fertilzer into the well. I use a trailer with the fretilzer is over 11,000Lbs. That will cook a c6
With the E4OD I can go in low range second with the tc locked up, keeping it cooler, than the non-lockup c6. Also I have to have a auto for other jobs I need the truck for, or I would have gone with the 5 speed, like I put in my 93.

Of course a cooler well designed with proper cooling lines are necessary, the OEM stuff is scrap metal...

My 4x4 c6 is going in to the tow truck so I keep you advice in mind when I do that.
Something for you you think about, synthetic fuild maybe able to handle 400F all day, but the seal, the case, the tc, and any rubber cooling lines aren't going to like it.

I replaced the bumper and added a chain for more tounge weight
springs out of a 97 f250 heavy duty
lmc 38 gallon tank
e4od shifter linkage, I used most of the orignal c6 linkage, just needed the tranny mount and I used the stock 93 e4od arm, I filped it over and knocked the ball out of it, Then the shift bushing fit into the hole
I had to modify the stock 94 crossmember so that the transfer case would clear the bottom of the cab
When I got the truck parts were missing, but I had the sepentine belt suff from the doner

Made progress today, this is getting old fast it's only the 3rd time I've pulled the 7.3 out of the truck.
For the guys that work alone like me note that the hood is still on the truck, you can get a 7.3 out of the brick noses and old body style with out taking the hood off
Never trust a cheap engain stand, this one was rated for 2000lbs, one of the nuts holding the arms to the mounting plate stripped out.

Got the heads and the old cam out of the new motor for the 88.
I talked myself into trying to put a 2000 psd trubo onto it, because of all of the aftermarket support for them.
Is there any reason that eveybody shys away from the psd turbos. other Than the mounting.
Or any suggestions on a better turbo.
