Camper/F250
weighting around 3000 to 3500 lbs figuring on passengers and
supplies. Most likely a crew cab with either a diesel or 460 engine.
Thanks for your help.
These will help. There is a page on this web site that will tell you a lot about the ratings. I don't know the address, but one of the guys or the search may help.
That is a pretty heavy camper so you may have a problem, of course that is why you are asking the question.

Auto, either 460 or powerstroke engines.
I know nothing about auto rear ends only the female kind.
I probably have to go with a F350. Maybe more truck is better
than possibly being to little.
Thanks for the response
2 F250's made those years (8600 GVW and 8800 GVW). The 8800 GVW have a rear axle with hubs that stick out like a dually.
With a 3000 pound camper, you are only allowing yourself 5800 pounds for truck. I think my 90 weighs in at over 6800, but I am not totally sure about that.
A F350 single rear wheel will be close to the 8800 pound 250.
A F350 dually should be in the range of 9800 pounds GVW. Check the door tags, they list the weight ranges, front/rear/total.
Remember that if you go to an extended cab, or 4x4, the rating stays the same, but those things add weight to the truck, thus taking weight off what you can safely put in the back.
On a side note, I have a slide in 8' camper. No idea what it weighs, I would say maybe 1800 to 2000 pounds and it only takes the suspension down about an inch.
If you can find a 350, buy it. It's always better to be safe and there isn't much money difference. I knew what I needed mine for, that's why I got the 250.
