Question Grill support

On my 54 f100 I have installed a 56 grill, 56 air deflectors, a 56 gravel pan and a 54 valance. Unfortunately, I do not have a 56 center grill support. The grill seems strong without it. Is the grill support bracket necessary? If I get one, will it mesh with the hole in the valance? Does anybody know of a truck without the bracket installed? Thanks, (More questions than answers) John

Grill support

John, My 54 also has a 56 grille without the support. We had a 56 valance instead of the 54. Wanted the turn signals to match the grille. This grill was put in the truck in the mid 70's. It has not had many miles on it since then, maybe 5000 total. It sat parked from 78 to 2001. but the grille held up fine, just surface rust on the chrome. It should be ok, htose are heavy parts. Just wanted to chime in on my trucks history. Good luck. Kurt Y-blocks rule!

Thanks for the input, the grill does feel solid without the support. Signed: Supportless in Sacramento
