Ok, so I have a '78 f150 CS 351M. Its been sitting for almost 10 years with a fuel flow problem. I replaced the pump even though I did it about 6 months before it died. pretty sure the lines or the tank selector valve got plugged full of junk. I knew the rear tank had issues so I kept switching between tanks trying to clean it out a bit and changing 2 inline filters every week but it died.
Trying to get it running now. basically Im going to drop both tanks and either clean or replace them, clean the lines and valve and cross my fingers. Im starting with the front tank since I plan on removing the bed for the rear. I got the rear strap to come off and the nut holding the front strap to the frame but I can't figure out where the other nut is at since the strap wraps all the way around the tank. Also, where do I disconnect the filler neck at?
On my front tank, I disconected the filler tubes at the metal tube and was able to get the hoses thru the frame and bed. Both my straps were the same so I don't know about yours.
So I figured out where the strap goes. now comes the fun part of trying to get the stupid thing off. of course they couldn't put a stud in the cross member like they did in the frame rail, that would be too easy! I also love how the thing was assembled with the bed off so all the hose clamps are pointing UP!!!!
