rear end ratio

how can i tell what gear ratio my rear is in my 49.
i think it is a 3-92 or 4-27. is it stamped on the housing?

rear end ratio

On the glovebox plate similar to the later trucks??
Also stamped on the carrier as a gear tooth ratio.

Worst case, jack it up and count the turns.

The easiest way to tell is to remove the back cover. Get a rag and spin the ring gear. If it says 47 -12 its 3.92 or 47 - 11 it's 4.27.
