Never thought to take pictures of the car. Mine has been to North Carolina, Florida, San Diego twice, and Las Vegas. Not included are a bunch of trips all over Kansas and Missouri. As we speak my wife is driving the family back from Branson in it.
My new excursion spent it's life in NY and VA. I drove it home from VA a few weeks ago.
guess ya can't go much farther east..maybe another 5 ft.
"The Point" Hatteras, NC
Man...does my truck have a lot of miles there. From chasing Blues to overnight Drum fishing trips. One of the most beautiful places on the east coast...until the bird watchers decided to F** everything up by suing the NPS to close down beach driving over the famous Piping Plover.
Amen brother! Never had a problem with the birds or turtles before. I love that place. I didnt think the point is opened yet great to see the beach open to vehicles. Is it still closed at night? Gonna be there end of next month.

Not sure... I know it's all based on how many nests or birds they see. At one time, they closed everything within 1000 yds of a sighting. No vehicles or foot traffic...but the bird people are allowed to go watch and count. Ironic huh?? The Piping Plover is like the Environmentalist's poster-child...it's cost the country billions of $$ from prohibited development to shipping lanes that had to be re-dredged. The biggest joke...that proves there's more money to be made by interest groups in prolonging a problem than fixing it. After the whole $150 driving permits and crap...I had enough of the place. I feel sorry for the families of generations that live on that island watching their homes and jobs in tourism disappear due to crap like this.
When we were there last year the yearly permit for ORV was 150 and weekly was 50. Was hoping Brewcaptain would chime in about how much beach is open to ORVs
I have not taken the X on the beach since the "fines" were put into place. I take a lot of trips down to the island, but I have had to piggyback with others to get out on the beach. The added costs, plus the fact you may not be able to even get out on the beach when you get there, mean to a point, the NPS has won, one less truck on the beach.
