I have a 6.0 that I just put a bulletproof oil cooler and sinister egr delete kit into. I have everything put back together and now it won't run. I've checked my FICM and ICP. Both are good. I'm not sure what else to check. Please help.
Did you prefill the cooler with oil prior to trying to start it? Did you prefill the HPO reservoir before you put the BPD adapter plate back on the top of the motor?
Not that it matters, but did you get the kit that now uses the factory filter or the remote filter (older model kit)?
Yes. I prefilled the oil cooler, filter, and the hoses. I didnt prefill the reservoir tho. The guy at BPD said that it shouldnt be a problem afyer cranking it a while. Now im not so sure
You should have prefilled the HPO reservoir. It's going to take some cranking to get oil everywhere it needs to be, depending on how far you tore down and what all repairs you did while you were there. Put your batteries on a charger to keep them HOT while you're cranking. Low batteries will kill your FICM. Crank for about 20 seconds at a time and let the starter COOL. How long have you cranked on it???
Ok. I filled the reservoir as best I could and the hose that connects to the oil in on the transfer block. The hose was dry. There was no oil flow thru it. I put in about 2 quarts of oil thru the oil in port. Any suggestions?
Yea. Pressure on the dash gauge but when I took off the oil in hose, no oil came out and the inside was dry. My duty cycle was 33-38%. I took the ficm fuse out and cranked it about 10 to 15 seconds at a time with 5 minutes of cooldown about 3 times to build pressure. Bled the fuel bowl
OK--lets start over. Put the fuse back in the FICM, unhook the batteries to clear all the codes (about 10 seconds). Hook everything back up and give it a solid 15-20 second crank then let rest. While it's resting check for any kind of codes.
One other suggestion: you might try pulling the icp sensor plug while you're cranking before you clear everything. It will put the PCM into a default value for HPO and possibly cut some fuel loose to the cylinders. Are you getting any smoke at all while cranking?
You say the IPR was clean when you put it back in but have you pulled it and checked the screen for plugging since you have had it all back together and cranking? A lot of times despite your best efforts at cleaning you get something in the HPOP reservoir that clogs up the IPR screen, it can even be something as simple as the lint from paper towels or rags.
