C/E light has been coming off and on for several months. I thought it was due to the three cracks in the p/s exhaust manifold. About four weeks ago it began to randomly run rough (read that a dead miss). Changed the manifold this past weekend and now the thing will barely run and won't idle by itself. Ran diagnostics on it and came up with the following:
116: ECT volts out of range
173: O2 sensor reading rich - bank one
So, I changed to ECT sensor (even though a resistance comparision with a new one showed little difference). So the code 116 is gone, but, the 173 is still here as well as running like crap.
The KOEO code is a 111 (system pass). The KOER 173 is now paired with a 411 & 412 (Self test RPM failures).
I have beat my brain out on this, anyone have any ideas?
BTW, I will be trying spark plugs Friday night...
Also, can anyone tell me if this a '93 5.0 is EFI or SFI? Reason I ask is the Actron ScanTool I'm using doesn't give an option for DCL monitoring if I choose 5.0 EFI, but, I can access the DCL readouts if I choose 5.0 SFI...
I gather it would be the differance between electronic and sequential ie EFI/SFI. Not sure but my 94 E 150 is EFI. I had a similiar problem last year with it running very rough and skipping. Wires where run wrong. Not like what you think. They all came off the Dist Cap correctly and went to the right plugs but if there is not enough separation between them you get crossfire. This is where a charge is induced in a nearby wire. Mine where only a little close but the wires where bad and I'm betting that the shielding was no longer effective. I don't know if that helps. Good luck and keep up the good fight with that E series.
