when is it a good idea to change injectors? in the morning, or first start-up, it doesn't seem like all eight injectors are firing. i mean, it smells like pure diesel and one of the cylinders doesnt pick up right. does this mean we should change the injectors or what? were strapped for cash and dont really have the cash to do it right away, so any help is appreciated. by the way it has 91000 miles, supposedly original. anyways, thanks ahead.
if it smells like pure diesel you should have to find out where the leakage is. I think your injectors are ok, maybe you have to change the o-rings under the leak off tee or tighten the clamps from the fuel return lines.
Yep sounds like a air leak, check over the return system for signs of leakage. I would bet that this is your problem. These orings have a nasty habit of leaking when they get some age on them. Most diesel shops will sell an entire kit for around 30 bucks. This includes the return line caps, orings, and fuel line needed to perform the repair.
