So, why does it say he doesn't have a gallery one way and shows a gallery the other????
This bugs the crap out of me, too, I wish people would keep stuff straight....
The Gallery product is the old, original picture-hosting stuff located at the bottom of one's profile page.
The recently-added Album stuff (combined with the Garage) is generally accessed from a widget in the RH side of one's profile page.
But people (including IB) intermix the Gallery & Album names *****-nilly and it's generally unclear as to what exact software feature people are referring to....
My dad cracked his frame on our 85 years and years ago after heavy abuse. It cracked on the passenger side, on the top of the frame rail about 8 inches down the frame rail after the shock tower.
A big fat thick weld will hold if you go up and down both sides. It's held for years and years and you almost wouldn't even know it cracked. You can see the old weld below.
1981 F150 Flareside. The frame just in front of my steering gear box has cracked and splintered badly. I have very little frame intact at this spot. I was considering obtaining a section of frame from a junkyard and having it welded.
Has anyone else had to do this? Is it just as cost effective to buy a frame from another truck and just swap it out? Can anyone give me some thoughts on this subject?
Somewhat of a common problem that affects all 1967/96 F100/350's.
The steering gear bolts were too short, Ford didn't use lock nuts. The nuts worked loose, the steering gear began to wobble, sooner or later...the frame cracked.
Ford dealer fixum: Weld crack, weld steel reinforcement plates over crack, install longer grade 8 bolts with self locking nuts.
Funny this should pop back up, I have a crack in my frame at about the same spot I believe. Under the steering column on the cross member that kinda wraps around the front axle. I'm simply planning on taking it to a frame welder and seeing what he can do... I believe mine is a complete crack though, it's split quite well...
hdman: my frame was split so badly that when I took the bolts loose, the frame dropped to the ground! My split was just behind the steering gear box (which I just reassembled to the frame last night). It all looks pretty good now, and I'm looking forward to driving my truck again!
Hello All!! Well, I finally got Pepe all put together and took him out on the road yesterday. Everything seemed to work well, and it steered fine. I'm kinda particular about paying attention to details, so everything went back together well, and seemed to ride really well. Today will be longer trips and tonight will be rechecking all of the bolts and what-not to make sure everything is still in place. PEPE RIDES AGAIN!!
