I have a 1999 with 150K mi. Just recently it started running real rough. After changing the fuel filter and pump I had AutoZone test it and they determined that it has a vaccuum leak, but no leads as to where.
Best I can tell, I've got two clues 1) When I shift into 2nd and get the rpm's up, it runs fine. 2) At the same time (in 2nd) the air flow switches from the a.c. vents to the defroster vents.
I know it's not much to go on, but does anyone have a clue as to where I should start checking? confused:
Lake, do you live in a northern climate where they use a lot of salt? If so you might want to check the vacuum canister. They will rust and have pin hole leaks. I have had this before and replaced it and the problem is fixed. The whole idea of the canister is to maintain enough vacuum for instances where you cannot generate it on the fly.
