Rust in Fuel system
I have a 2002 FX4 with 11k on it. last few weeks it's been Idling a little rough Two days ago the check engine light came on. Diagnostics revealed a rich running condidtion Ford said possible leaking injector On removing injectors rust appeared on surface and inside Fuel line tank side of filter was removed and fuel appeared to be contaminated and rust particulate. Dealer said that all injectors tank and fuel system needs to be replaced Warranty will not cover because off bad gas This does not wash I fuel two cars at local stations no problem with car 2 I am questioning how a fuel system on a new vehicle can get that badly degraded.
Anyone got any Ideas Can the fuel tank be rusty any known problems here I can sure see that i could have got a tank of fuel with water but not to cause this

Hi John Deeney and welcome to FTE 
I have never seen rust in a newer tank like yours but anything is possible.
I think if it was mine I'd replace the fuel filter, flush the injectors and give it a try.
And remember that you can get a second opinion at another shop too.
