my 2000 f250 has had leveling kit for 10 years.shocks are only about 1.5yr old. and i have driven it down dirt roads in the western states huntin, campin, and hikeing all its life. it just doesn't feel like a 3/4 ton truck anymore. suggestions on were to start? springs?
I put in helper springs from Rough Country and, by God, it rides like a truck. That would be cheaper than all the springs. Also raised it about 2" in the front and 4" in the back.
I had a Ranger truck that had a soft suspension type of issue before. Turned out (on that truck) that the rubber spring bushings were worn so badly, they could be cut with a fingernail. Replaced them with Poly and the ride stiffened up.
I plan on replacing all the rubber under my '02 F350 (sway bar, springs, cab mounts, etc.) with polyurethane bushings soon. I will keep stock height when I do it.
Here in Idaho, we get a lot of dry rot in the suspension rubber. Might check that first. Suspension rubber should be stiff, not soft.
If your truck is lifted, you may have different material in there.
I just know (from testing) that I need to replace my under truck rubber on mine.
The Energy suspension kit worked great on mine for the bushings. You also need to get the spring isolaters from the dealer to replace the same time. I did all the suspension stuff at the same time but the truck rides SO much better. Stiffer and more responsive.
