bought 02 F350 w/7.3 150000 on it last Feb. Went to AZ in March with no problems. Had fuel filter changed and an extra oil cooler installed when bought. Tried to go over Mt. Hood yesterday almost to top with 11000lb trailer and engine lite comes on and starts running bad/rough. Pulled to shoulder and let cool down, gauges did not show high trans temp or water temp engine lite would not go off and no power to to move at all. towed back home. No previous indication of any problem, something just went bad. any ideas/suggestions?

 

Get the codes and post them . Oil conditon ? Fuel pressure ? Boost ? Sensor ? Need codes to go further without guessing .

 

I'm new to owning a diesel truck. have no way to get codes or the info. mentioned by JWC 3 above. wish I did. will have to wait for Dealer ship to open on july 5th.

 

Best of luck to you . If handy with tools , buy a scanner at a parts store . It will come in handy down the road . You can then pull codes yourself . And even if you can not fix yourself , you can know if you are getting shafted . You can get a decent " cheep " code reader for well less than $200 . $50 to &150 for a basic reader .
