broke down going to work
Ran out of gas on the rear tank, switched to the front, it died, started back up, died, then ran for about 5 miles and died. Maybe picked up some gunk from the rear tank? I hope. 85 302FI.

It could be one of your in-tank low pressure pumps failed, or the filter in the tank "switching valve" is clogged (most places, including some dealers do not even know there is a filter in the 85-86 units).

Going to try the filter first, it would be quite the coincidence for the pump in the front tank to quit after the rear tank goes empty. A guy told me the pump on the frame goes out sometimes and costs about $40.

If you need a new high pressure pump, the originals were Bosch pumps, the aftermarket replacements are noisy and don't last anywhere near as long.

Filter didn't fix it. It will run for a couple minutes and die. Towing it home on a chain.

Ran for 5 minutes, then died. No spark. It's at the mechanics now.

Wow. Green wire going to the coil was kinda broke. Runs perfect now. $90 fuel pump, $100 for the mechanic.
