Well i currently live in ohio right by cleveland. I got accepted to West Virginia University for petroleum engineering, its a little over a 4 hour drive. Im gonna take my truck down with me. I was wonder what you guys think i should do maintenance wise to insure it can make the journey back and forth. Also if i should get any spare parts to keep in my truck box. Im gonna bring just about every tool in my garage chest. Im also gonna order another CPS. but otherwise than that any suggestions to bring with me?
Better have a good chain with you so you can pull people out of ditches going back and forth - no better insurance than doing good deeds along the way! Personally, I think our trucks are awesome on the highway. Mine runs at 1700 rpm at 68 mph and cruises right along. As long as you keep the oil right and the fluids clean, you should be fine.
Congrat's on the acceptance - that degree will be a gold mine as the years go on! Study hard!!!
Spare serpentine belt, bottle of Diesel 911, some oil, some ATF, voltmeter, spare fuses and maxifuses of all ratings, one or two of each size of spare light bulb (including a headlight), LED forehead light, a few shop towels, blanket, drinking water, AAA card.

Got a chain and a huge wrecker tow strap with hooks i bought 2 weeks ago. Although the first time i used it it was used to tow my truck home.

I never thought to bring a spare serpentine belt. Thanks man !
Congrats on the acceptance at WVU. I'm partial, since I'm from WV! I'm actually heading up to campus (about 2.5 hours from me) this afternoon to attend a two day course for my job (we have 'continuing education' classes available all the time, and I take as many as I can). If you've never been there, you're in for an experience getting around. I don't know if they told you, but it's a requirement for one leg to be shorter than the other so you can walk on all the hills!
It's a program, plus a scanner you plug between the OBD-II port in the truck and a USB port on your laptop. It's the only program that specifically communicates with our OBD-not-quite-II trucks.
