I need to install a new radiator into my 1978 Ford F150 4x4. Is a aluminum radiator better to put in? I live in az so the weather here is pretty hot. I do not drive the truck everyday due to gas mileage, but I do drive when I need to or for the occasional cruise.
1978 f150 4x4 new aluminum radiator along with a flo-cooler water pump and thermostat and a two speed mark 8 fan the temp stays in the middle no mater what I do idling, or running hard . bought my rad off ebay from monster cooling, the guy is a good guy had a problem and he took care of it right away . the weight of the new radiator is 22lbs which is a lot less than the old one.
Good Luck with that aluminum radiator. if you have problems with it the next time get a four core copper radiator called Desert cooler. It'll last you probably as long as you'll have your truck. Cost more up front, but you only need to buy one time.
My '78 F250 (400) came from the factory with a 2 core copper radiator. I recently replaced with a copper 3 core which was the factory extra cooling radiator. AZ fixed me up at reasonable cost.
I'm with billgrant get the desert cooler especially if you have factory a/c.
You will pay a little more I think i paid 325.00 but well worth it will last a long time. Good luck
well after reading the forum input I think I brought the wrong radiator, whats the old saying " save a few bucks the first time going cheep---- making up for it the next time.
