Does anybody know if 51 and 52 cabs are interchangeable? My 52 cab is in pretty rough condition and I have found one that's in good condition for reasonable money. I'd like to get it if it will work.
Thanks in advance.
51 and 52 cabs for all intents and purposes are identical. There's a couple tiny differences on the firewall, like the heater hose knockouts are placed differently, but nothing serious. Unless you're building a 100 point AACA show truck, which no one is, you'll be fine. On the other hand, if your deal falls through and you're up for a road trip, i can fix you up as well.
One more detail, the 52 cabs have two captive nuts at the bottom center of the fire wall that mount the 215 six cylinder linkage. You say yours is a flathead, so for practical purposes it won't matter to you. Stu
One more difference to throw in just for grins and giggles - the '52 cabs had tabs on the lower outside edges of the firewall for attaching the inner fenders. Prior years all had the inner fenders bolted to the frame in that area.

Good point. That's probably the most important one, but can be fixed either by adding tabs to the cab in the proper location, or using 51 inner fenders.
I just happen to have some '51 inners, let me know if you need them. The brace to frame is cracked, as usual. I'd be inclined to attach to the cowl instead. BobbyT even did that on his '49 as I recall.
