What is this light for???

In the my 72 F100 Custom there is a light under the bed about a foot in from the side on the drivers side and about 18 inches from the bumper. It appears to be a factory bracket, and the lens is in somewhat of a teardrop shape. There is only one on the drivers side, and it comes on with my headlights. What is it for?

I think it is the factory tag light. The truck was shipped from the factory without a bumper, so they put this light and a bracket for the tag under there.

That would make sense. I guess that that is what it is. As soon as i get a chance, i will post a pic of the light and of what happens when you dont grease your universal joint. (more info here http://www.fordtrucks.com/forums/sho...hreadid=124376)
