abs light on and speed sensor error???
I have a 2000 excursion with 90,000 miles and the abs light is on and the speedometer doesn't work sometimes. The check engine light comes on after speddo quits I took it to auto zone and they said the computer had a speed sensor error!! looking for the part on the net I see an "ABS SPEED SENSOR" is this 1 sensor causing both problems?? Or 2 diff sensors?? any help on location or more info is appreciated!!

I had the Same problem, it ws the VSS sensor Vehicle Speed sensor the part was only $30 but it was $154 after labor was added. Fortunately it was covered under warranty. It's located on the back side of the transmission towards the driveshaft some people have had luck with removing the connector and cleaning it. Good Luck

changing out VSS
When the ABS light syayed on for me I changed out the Variable speed sensor. $20.00 part from Ford. You remove one bolt and one elecrtic plug. It takes 5 minutes. It's located one top of the rear differential.
