Okay, my Abs light is on. Has been since I got it. From what I have read in my searching black tape seams to be the fix suggested. I have heard the cruise control wont work with this light on . is this true, I will be doing long distances so I need my CC working.
The light comes on right from the key turning on , flicks off for a second and then stays on. It comes on without me moving an inch. My manual says no codes are kept in memory so there is something wrong right off the bat. I tried disconnecting the wires to the Brake distribution block with no change and have fixed some vacuum leaks still with no result.
-Is it likely to be a short in the wire to the rear sensor
-Something to do with the brake bias block
-The sensor on the rear diff ( I think unlikely cos of no movement when light comes on)
- am I just chasing my tail
I have to get this sorted because it wont pass inspection in Aus with the light on, and I would like the cruise to be working
Sorry for the long post but thought I would narrow the field a bit. Any suggestions welcome... except tape.
Either black tape or remove the bulb for inspection. Which seems funny because it will pass here in Massachusetts with it on (because its only for the ABS system, regular braking works fine). But I guess you guys have different standards.
Mine has had the same issues, and I just don't care about it. I never tried to troubleshoot it as everything I read at the time said it didn't work well to begin with, so wasn't worth my time or money to fix. No idea about cruise, as my truck doesn't have it (yet) but I'm curious to know....
There is an ABS module somewhere under the dash which could cause the issue, or the ABS unit on the drivers side frame, under the cab.
