Track Bar not long enough?!

Hey guys, I just installed the Energy Suspension 4.7126 bushings on my track bar after pressing the old ones out. Now I go to reinstall the track bar. Problem is, the holes in the new bushings are not aligning with the holes in the carriage/housing thingamajig. It's like it is a quarter inch too short and I can't get the bolt in on one side after I get a bolt in on the other side.

Did a wizard shrink my track bar?

The driveway is flat, yes. It does incline so that the front of the truck is slightly higher than the rear. But laterally it is flat.

Take a chain through the passenger side tow hook, get a comealong and a solid anchor point and winch the frame over as much as you need. I did that when swapping my springs over.

You can put a piece of wood between the tire and the frame and have an assistant turn the steering wheel and will line those holes right up. You can use the engine running for the power assist if needed.

I don't have a comealong but I do have a piece of wood. Great idea! I will try that out.

If it is only a 1/4" out you maybe able to get a round bar and get it in the hole and pry it over. you might want to jack the tires off the ground. Or it might just move when you start the engine and turn the wheel the right way.

I used a 2" ratchet strap to get mine lined up.This method works best with the weight off the axle. It is easier with a helper to turn the wheel while you install the bolt. Do this with the tires on and on the ground.

Use the wood between the tire and frame, crank the wheel then lock the steering wheel in place with the ignition lock. one man wrecking crew

when i changed mine, i had my girlfriend turn the wheel hard to the right and hold it. that let the front end move just enough to put the bolt back in. Yes i trust her that much. find a friend who you can trust not to run you over

Guys, I tried all of these things with little to no success. (even though I like trk98's idea...shoulda tried that)

But let me tell you what did work for me!

I have a Ranch Hand front bumper and I had my friend (when he get back from work) stand on it and bounce up and down. With the front end moving up and down the track bar would align properly and I was able to get the bolt in. We both died laughing at this as we have tried everything but a come-along or ratchet strap. LOL

Anyways, I still have a slight "death wobble" that is random. Besides that, the truck drives MUCH BETTER and I am very happy with the Energy Suspension parts.

Much thanks, guys!
