Oil Leak

I've just finished a complete rebuild of a '71 360...New everything pretty much, right down to the crank. Anyway, put it back in the other day, fired it up, and low and behold an oil leak. This is one strange one too. When the truck is montionless and idleing, no oil. turn the key off after running it motionless, about 2 or 3 tablespoons of oil drip off the right header around the starter area...also drips off the bottom of the bell housing of the transmission. There is no oil present on the flex plate, which makes me doubt it is the rear main seal, or the cam plug. But any input anyone can shed on this would be much appriciated...as it stands right now, i think the most likely culprit is the seal on the back of the intake manifold??

Thanks

T

Oil Leak

Sounds a whole lot like the rear main seal. Mine did the same thing. It would only leak when parked. It did it really bad when parked uphill. Are you sure you don't have too much oil in it? You can put a mirror on the firewall to see if it is the intake
