Hi,
Installed socalled Ultra team ignition kit in my '97 F-250 w/ service body & topper (7300 lbs) I pull my 26ft. trailer (9500 lbs.
There's a 3.5 mile 4-5% hill out of town and before I put this on I went up and over at 50-55 MPH in third gear (auto) or I thought so- I forgot to check it the day before-it had been a couple months since doing it. Anyway, just before my trip I put the kit on and crested the hill at 40 MPH in second gear! Again, I could'nt quite remember that I had done it in third gear.
I went down past Las Vegas at a couple thousand feet and the engine started pinging some. I was told to reset the plugs from 64 to 58 (stock is 46). No change in pinging. Two months later the unit failed- severe stumbling. Switched back to stock and everything was O.K. I went back up the hill when I got back home and sure enough I crested the hill at 55 MPH in third gear.Missed 30 day refund time, Refuse to mess with replacement 1 yr. warranty. This is'nt random. It reduced my performance. They refused to refund my $450 (!!!???) last week.
.
even if you have paid the bill, call the credit card company. alot of them of 100 percent satisfaction gaurentees. 450 bucks is alot to chaulk up to bad experience
Hi Goofin,
I called and there is an automatic product warranty extention doubling the manufactures on a platinum card but it excludes automotive products. It's only for repairs too. Well, I should have tested the kit within the 30 days anyway, but I do'nt think the kit is worth a dime.
Stay away from Jacobs. I had a bad experience with them about 7 years ago with thier Omni Pack or whatever it was called for a 89 F150 with a 302 v8. After installation it caused a misfire that could not be corrected without restoring the factory ignition. They charged me a 10% restocking fee as well!!!
