...New Engine?
After finally finding the oil sending unit thursday night, I discovered there is a special socket to get the oil sending unit out. Swapped it out and still I los oil pressure within 1 mile of driving. Every time you hit the gas, pressure instantly drops. Now, it also runs real rough. Idle varies between 500 and 1200. Within the last 3,500 miles, I replaced IAC, EGR, TPS, plugs, wire, PCV, and air/breather filters. The exhaust smells nasty and it also has no power. I ckecked oil and it is clean. Am I looking at having the bottem end of the engine rebuilt? I am feeling pretty sure that the oil pump may have gone out in it. But Ialso wasn't sure if I had a head gasket go (internal leak?) or if the computer has croaked. I had the shop come and get it becuase I didn't want to make a bad situation worse by driving it. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. In case you missed my first post it is a 90 F150 XLT Lariat 4x4, 5.0, AOD, with 118,000 miles on it. Truck has been well maintained with 3,00 tp 4,000 mile oil changes. I have been using Valvoline Maxlife 10W30 and Bosch oil filters. Thanks!
