Bedliner

I'm thinking about ripping up the carpet in my 88' then spraying bedliner or should I just get carpet put down again? Currently the bronco is all white but I wanna get it painted glossy black what do y'all think would look better?

What would the purpose behind the bedliner be? The reason I ask is because it isn't very good for sound deadening but if prepped properly, it could seal out any rust. As for the color, since you asked what would look better, neither black or white straight up. IMO having a color like that shows scratches too easily, a satin black though would be nice or a gunmetal grey.

I was thinking about bedliner because when I go offroading I don't want to have to worry about destroying the carpet with bedliner mud will come right out but yeah I didn't think of the scratching I think I'd like the look of the satin black though.

Oh I'm sorry, I missread the other post... I thought you ment spraying the liner then putting carpet over the top

Anyways, bedliner is a good choice for offroading purposes, it is easy to care for BUT as I mentioned, it is a terrible substitute for sound deadening material. If you aren't worried about that then bedliner is a good choice and I'd go with that instead of carpet. Otherwise you can instal the rubber mat flooring that some people use. It goes in just like carpet but is a rubber flooring so it's washable. Some of the issues i've heard about them though is they aren't the easiest to instal and sometimes the creases from shipping them in boxes don't come out easily. You could use a roll on liner, then apply the rubber mat flooring on top so if any water happens to get beneath it, it won't rust. It kind of depends on the budget you are working with as well....

I have bedliner sprayed in my Jeep. It has ben in it for over a year. I will also be spraying my 79 in the near future. Here is a list of Pros and Cons after a year of personal experience.

Pros
Easy to clean
Prevents rust
looks good

Cons
no sound deadening
allows a lot of heat to transfer
harder to hide electrical wires

Heres mine when I finished rolling it on, I didn't do the whole inside, just the bed. Its held up nice, just a few noticeable dings from a 60lb tool box that went flying all over the place when I got the truck off all 4

I used Herculiner, just bought like a quart and was able to do like 2 coats, All my wires from the sub and amp are exposed up to the carpet that I left in the truck, I used split cable tubing to keep them neat and protected. I would recommend getting some of this for any exposed cable.

I don't have any liner on mine yet. It came with some crappy all weather carpet that is glued down. I'm particularly lazy and have a bad case of procrastination... I'll get it done at some point. As for hiding wires, I actually enjoy doing that, it's like an adventure or a challenge to find the best places to hide stereo wiring so that it looks clean and professional. If it is a big deal you can run it under the body too along with the main wire group.

Also just found out that the split wire tube you mentioned Ryan, is called a wire loom... the words were stuck in my head so I looked it up. I used a bit of that to hide speaker wires running under my dash Unfortunately I got too small of a size so I had to zip tie it to keep the wires in.

That's not a bad idea. I did all mine in my driveway with parts that I bought off friends and such. The deck was a $50 one from walmart that happen to have AUX in and sub connections out. Installation was pretty easy to do, I just needed some dash mods and wiring. I've put new door speakers in after I blew the dash speaker when I was coming home with some friends from a party and had the music at full blast. The speakers also happen to be walmart specials but they fit nicely and sound great.

Without the face on them the door panel hides hem well.

Messy wires

It's a bit cleaner and not in the way of the pedals.

I'm most likely going to buy one of those tuffy consoles and put the radio in there and put the cover they sell over the hole in the dash and put switches there for my aux lights

Just a FYI. If the bed liner is done CORRECTLY it is NO LOUDER than the factory flooring. How do I know this, i took my factory flooring out, sandblasted, POR15 then Scorpion bed linered my 96.

It does how ever let more heat in. But I dont care since the top is off ALL SUMMER.

Dont bother with the Hurculiner JUNK. Get an EPOXY style bed line, not just paint with sand in it(herculiner)

The epoxy is a couple part mixture that CURES, not dries like paint.

I used 2 gallons of the Scorpion to do the entire inside of my bronco tub. Material costed $165 for the 2 gallons

Speaker wires run through a Coated piece of 3/8 brake line and clamped to the floor

Sandblasted

lined
