Carb issue
Its been awhile since I have posted but its been slow going on my truck lately but i got my motor pulled out this weekend and I was looking at things and have come across my first issue. It seems that the 79 intake and the 76 are different. The carb I have from my 76 will not fit on the intake on the 79 engine going in my truck. I had it rebuilt and running great but now have to have the one off the 79 redone. Thankfully I did hear the engine run and there was no leaking or any slack in the butterfly rod. So now my question is what would the carb I have be worth? The numbers on the tag are D6TE KA C 6 B 06
The numbers on the one I need rebuilt are E511 JA A 5 G 8.
There are some differences other than it wont fit but I am hoping it will work out just fine.
I have a Carter YF from a 1970 F350 mounted on my 1986 F150.
Take the older carburetor and turn it upside down. Place a carburetor base gasket which fits the manifold on the bottom of the upside-down carburetor. You will easily see where to file in order to make the carburetor fit.
This is a common occurence. Many rebuilt carburetors come with elongated holes, rather than the original round ones.
