I have a '94 E-150 Econoline with a 5.8 engine. The oil filler cap is on the end of a tube. A rubber hose of some sort comes off of that same tube.

Where is the other end of that rubber hose supposed to go?

My beloved '94 van wouldn't start today, and I opened the hood and saw that hose not attached to anything. I'm wondering if that's what my problem is.

 

That small hose goes into the air filter box

It has the purpose of a crankcase breather.

I'm sure that it has nothing to do with your starting problem

Can't say I'm shocked that's not the cause, but would have been nice.
