The 351w was introduced in the late 60's. So it can have a points distributor. Then around the mid 70's they introduced the duraspark system that was electronic, and they still had the 351w in production so it can have one of them also.

They converted the 351w to EFI in about 88 or 89(I think thats right) and it got the TFI type distributor till they quit making the 351w.

There are some odd ducks out there that were made with special ignition systems, usually bound for California.

But it doesn't really matter, all the different distributors will swap out. A 300 dist won't fit though if that's what you are asking.

I just saw the "85 351w" in your post. That would have the duraspark II dist.

Hey Jason,
Keep in mind, there are a lot of little things to consider with you engine swap. You'll need new frame perches for the engine mounts. The radiator will have to be swapped out, exhaust will have to be redone, etc. The 300-6 is a good motor, and the money you would have to spend to swap in a tired 351W could make that 300 run like new again. Just an idea. Whichever way you go, good luck with it.
