IDI turbo bark?
went ridin to the store with my buddy in his duramax at work and his turbo barked every time he would kick it and let off.
said it was from mattin the gas and lettin off real quick and not giving the turbo time to slow down before letting off.
Are our turbos just too small for that? i know the dmax turbos are huge in comparison, just kinda wondering what makes that happen on a newer truck that wouldn't happen on an old one
this is why gas engines use blow off valves.
all turbo bark is is the compressor stalling, this results in a high torque load on the shaft running from the compressor to the turbine.
it not happening on an idi is a combination of a small(no inter cooler and all of the piping), low pressure(generally 14psi) reservoir of pressurized air and a turbo that has low momentum.
