I assume u cleaned the battery posts when u put them back on. The only other thing to try is to put in neutral and see if it will crank. you have a 2002 so no starter solenoid to jump on yours. There i a connection on the passenger fender behind battery in its place that is one wire that i think is either orange or yellow that sends the current to the starter solenoid.
I do not have pictures, but the starter is located on the passenger side of the engine where it meets the transmission. Most are 2 bolts. Occasionally there are 3 bolts. It does not matter what brand you have. Any kind will work. Aftermarket starters are hit and miss wherever you get them as far as reliability.
Thanks Carlton. Yes, I cleaned terminals. Neutral didn't work. What confused me about all the previous posts I found is that I kept looking near the passenger fender wall for the solenoid...driving me crazy. I found the starter and will take it off in the morning. Autozone has one in stock but I'll test it first. Pretty sure that's it. Thanks again.
2001 was the last year for fender solenoid on the trucks. They had been in use since almost forever on fords. It had kind of become a redundant system . From 2002 on, they are like yours.
