I bought this tailgate for my 68 f100 ranger longbed! The salvage yard said its a 68 I don't think is but when I look in the MAC's catalogue it is slightly different! What year is this one what do I need to look for to find one that fits the lines of my 68?

Most junkyards haven't a single clue what year the tailgates fit, especially for a 45+ year old truck.
The following two tailgates interchange, all the mounting hardware is the same, but the 1967/72 tailgate looks slightly different.
But make lemonade out of lemons.....it would be a good time to practice some body work -some hammer n dolly work, a skim coat of filler, block sanding, and shoot it with primer sealer and look to upwards of $100.

.. or make a bench out of it:

That is an awesome bench! If the salvage yard won't take it back I may do that! That's pretty sharp!
The one you bought looks the same as one I have, which a friend gave me saying it would fit my '68. It doesn't, but I didn't need one anyway. Did a little checking and I think it's for an '80s truck. So I have this nice, NOS never installed tailgate sitting here that fits nothing I own (and probably never will.) I like the bench idea...
